Ronidazole treatment 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Tritrich organisms were seen in two of my 4 cats. The vet prescribed 1 ml of Ranidazole twice a day for each of the 4 cats.

An unrelated illness interfered with beginning treatment, and now....two weeks later, my vet says "I meant 1 ml once a day!"

I have done online research and have not found a consensus for treatment! I need to know the LATEST thought on the dosage. (I have hired a vet tech to help me medicate my very smart and lightning fast cats. The whole thing is expensive and too stressful to do this incorrectly.) Can you help?

The dosage of "one mL" is not specific enough. There should be a statement on the bottle that says "x mg per mL". I need that and the weight of your cat to calculate the proper dosage. The primary signs of overdose are neurological, so if she is acting fine, no harm has probably been done.

The most current information on tritrichomonas foetus may be found here: http://www.cvm.ncsu.edu/docs/personnel/gookin_jody.html

Good luck!
